WHAT WE GROW
ProduceWe grow a large variety of of organic fruits and vegetables and each season has it's own unique flavors and colors.
Starting in the cool spring we see a lot of healthy greens like kales, cabbages, and our signature salad mix. Then comes the roots like beets, carrots, turnips, and radishes. Along with spring onions, some herbs, and strawberries. As temperatures rise, greens start to fade away and make room for our huge variety summer time favorites. Cucumbers, summer squash, peppers, eggplants, onions, beans, and some of the tastiest tomatoes around are some of the crops you can count on seeing throughout the season. The arrival of fall is the return of greens and roots with the addition of sweet potatoes, chestnuts, grits. Everything we offer at markets and through our CSA is grown by us and is certified organic. We put a focus on flavor when choosing varieties, along with choosing varieties that enjoy our hot and humid southern VA climate. |
FlowersWe grow an exciting variety of cut flowers. They are a wonderful addition for our pollinator friends and who doesn't like a fresh cut bouquet of farm fresh flowers. From the unusual to the old-fashioned, soft pastels or bright and bold, Amy’s Garden offers scores of beautiful varieties – all organically grown of course!
Like our produce, what flowers we offer is subject to the seasons. Gorgeous peonies, fragrant sweet William, stately snapdragons and larkspur start off the season in May, followed by yarrows, rudbeckia and zinnias. Summer brings an explosion of blooms of all types, including stunning Lisianthus, fragrant tuberose, beguiling cockscomb and amaranth, and big bright sun flowers. In late summer and fall the salvia leucantha is blooming along with marigolds, and everyone’s favorite “Hairy Balls” makes a return. Each week we bring our seasonal flower options along with us to markets. At the market you'll be able to choose your favorite from our pre-made mixed bouquets. We also offer straight bunches of some varieties like sunflowers and cockscomb when they are available. |
